A single-car accident early on June 2 on Interstate 65 led to a fatality.
According to Alabama State Trooper Jesse Thornton, “Laurie Brooke Mims, 36, was killed when the 2003 Chevrolet Tracker she was driving left the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned. Mims, who was not using a seat belt, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.”
The crash occurred at 2:45 a.m. on June 2 near the 197-mile marker of Interstate 65, which is about 10 miles north of Prattville.
Preliminary investigation by the Montgomery Post of the Alabama State Troopers suggests “alcohol may have been a factor.” The incident is still under investigation.
