Rustique Relics in Clanton will begin a summer-long series of musical entertainment on June 2 and 3.

The music will take place each Friday and Saturday night during the summer months from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Darrell Sroufe is helping organize the entertainment each week, which will feature a variety of country, bluegrass and gospel music.

According to Sroufe, the event is designed so that anyone with a love of music can bring along their instrument and join in with the featured artist.

Sroufe knows what its like to win over a crowd, after spending years playing the banjo and performing a comedy routine as the character “Fuster Buskins” at Dollywood Theme Park in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

He now lives in Clanton and will be one of the first acts to perform on Friday and will do so in character.

The performances will be sort of a throwback, especially when it comes to the gospel music.

“It will be a lot of the old-timey songs that everyone knows,” Sroufe said.

Sroufe started at Dollywood as a performer in the train robber show for a couple of years before it was stopped.

His performance at the park changed, but the origin of the Fuster Buskins character remained.

“I went all over the park with my banjo and performed as the situation arose,” Sroufe said.

He has also performed at Stone Mountain Park and has done several shows on tour during his career.

Sroufe is currently in the midst of working out the upcoming schedule and is in the process of booking bands and singers.

Gary Morris will be on hand to showcase his skills as a singer, songwriter, guitarist and mandolin player on Saturday night. Morris will be accompanied by professional harmonica recording artist Stoney Barbee.

The performances will be held inside of Rustique Relics at its location at 706 2nd Ave. N. in downtown Clanton.
