Chilton County Schools will be holding a series of town hall meeting this summer to give each community the chance to talk to school leaders as well as get updates on plans for each community school.
Superintendent Tommy Glasscock said some had asked the system to have such meetings to update the community.
The town hall format has been successful for other types of leaders, and Glasscock said he thought it would work well for them as well.
The meetings will be “an opportunity to give an update about where we are in technology, where we are in building projects,” Glasscock said.
“The community gets a lot of information. It isn’t always the right information,” Glasscock said.
Each meeting will have an open question format. No registration is required.
The first meeting will be held at the Jemison City Hall at 6 p.m. on June 1. The rest of the schedule will be as follows:
Verbena High School June 29 at 6 p.m.
Clanton City Hall July 17 at 6 p.m.
Thorsby Town Hall July 24 at 6 p.m.
Maplesville Town Hall July 25 at 6 p.m.
Isabella High School July 27 at 6 p.m.
In addition to talking about projects at the specific community’s school, Glasscock will also out line some districtwide initiatives.
Glasscock and some central office staff will be in attendance. Glasscock said he has also invited all of the Board of Education members to participate.
The plan is to stream the meetings live on Facebook, and would be accessed from the Chilton County School district Facebook page. The plan is for all of the board meetings to be streamed this way moving forward. The videos will be accessible on the page even after the meeting has ended.
