Hot hitting by the Thorsby Rebels and numerous errors by the Isabella Mustangs each played a roll in a 14-4 win by Thorsby on Tuesday.

After a three-up-and-three-down top of the first for Thorsby, the Mustangs put the first points of the game on the board in the home half of the inning.

Trinity Cox got things started with a leadoff walk that was followed by a double from Jayda Jones that set up an RBI double from Carmelina Fjeldstad. Kristin Wilson hit a two-run single that put Isabella up 3-0.

A leadoff single by Lauren Reeser and a walk by Hannah Smith started the top of the second with the Rebels sporting two runners with no outs.

An infield ground ball by Karlee Kincaid saw an Isabella error that scored both Reeser and Smith and made it a one-run game.

With the Mustangs going in order through the top of the third inning, the game took a big turn in the top of the third. A walk, bunt and Isabella error loaded the bases for Thorsby with only one out and set up a three-run triple from Hannah Smith, as the Rebels took a 5-3 lead.

The inning was far from over, as six errors in the inning resulted in five Thorsby runs and gave the Rebels a big 11-3 lead.

Isabella was unable to answer in the bottom half of the third with only a single by Wilson, both teams went in order through the fourth and sent the game to the top of the fifth with Thorsby leading by eight.

The Rebels rallied with two outs in the top of the fifth to tack on three more runs. Another Isabella error allowed Cameron Lockhart to reach safely and set up an RBI single by Lindsey Burnett.

Madyson Ellison reached with a double and it was followed by a two-RBI single by Reeser that made it a 14-3 Thorsby lead.

A one-out single by Isabella’s Cox to start the home half of the inning set up a two-out RBI double by Fjeldstad, but a fly ball to Abby Cleckler brought the inning to a close while ending the game due to the ten run mercy rule.

Reese led the Rebels at the plate with a pair of singles along with two RBIs, while Addie Niamon handled the pitching and threw five innings with three earned runs on seven hits, one walk and two strikeouts.

Cox handled the pitching for Isabella and threw five innings with two earned runs on eight hits with five walks and a strikeout.

Fjeldstad led the Mustangs with a two-for-three performance at the plate with a pair of doubles and a pair of RBIs.
