The third annual Relay for Life Fishing Tournament put on by Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Jemison will be held April 22 at Bozo’s Fish Camp.

“A lot of us at the church like to fish and we’re really big on Relay for Life,” Jonathan Varden of Providence Baptist said.

The church fishing team decided to organize a tournament so they could give to a good cause while doing something they enjoy.

This year, the tournament was almost completely funded by support from local businesses, according to Varden. There will be banners and giveaways at the tournament provided by these businesses. Varden thanked everyone who contributed.

The tournament will start at safe-daylight and end at 2:30 p.m. The cost to compete is $110 per boat, which allows two people to fish. There is a five fish limit for weigh-ins, and no dead fish can be weighed.

The highest total weight will win $2,000. Prizes for other rankings will be based on the number of competitors who enter.

Bozo’s Fish Camp is located at 525 County Road 402 in Shelby County.
