MAPLESVILLE— The Maplesville Town council has approved a 3-percent increase in pay for full-time employees who have worked for the town at least one year.

The increase was approved unanimously at the town council meeting on March 14.

Employees that have not completed a full year on the job were not given the raise because these employees received incremental raises throughout the first year.

Implementing an evaluation system for each of the town’s departments has been discussed in the past. A decision on whether to implement employee evaluations to be filled out by department heads will be discussed during the April meeting of the Maplesville Town Council.

During a work session earlier in the month, Maplesville Police Department Chief Todd Ingram said he would like to implement quarterly employee evaluations.

The council postponed discussion of its participation in the Alabama Bicentennial celebrations until next month.

During the March 14 meeting, the council approved:

— the nine-month incremental raise of 25 cents for a street department worker.

— declaring window unit air conditioners from town hall as surplus, and received an update on the window replacement.

— a $100 donation to Kelsey’s Place.
