The Chilton County Humane Society is looking for sponsors for its annual Easter-themed fundraiser on April 8 at Goose Pond Park.

The event will start at 10 a.m. and close at 4 p.m.

During a recent Humane Society meeting, President Katherine Reece said Lewis Machine Company is the first sponsor the Humane Society has secured for the event. Those interested in being a sponsor can contact the Humane Society at (205) 755-9170

Reece recently said the organization is also looking for volunteers for the event. Volunteers would need to be onsite by 9 a.m. The organization is also planning on partnering with school clubs who may need volunteer hours. Volunteers are needed to help run the games for the children.

“We have a bouncy house and a bouncy slide coming,” Reece said.

There are a few changes this year with Jemison High School providing the animals for the petting zoo.

“They are going to be bringing rabbits, chickens, a cow and a pony,” Reece said.

This year the entry fee is $5, which covers all of the games and activities, except for the pony rides. Pony rides will be an additional $5 paid to the vendor. Reece said there will be a limit of one of each prize game per person. The pony ride vendor donates a portion of their proceeds to the Humane Society.

Each person will receive an armband to help those who are running the game keep track.

Pony rides will also be available There will be two Easter Egg hunts this year. One for younger children and one for older children. Children will need to bring a basket or bag for collecting their eggs.

Contest for Easter egg races and rolls will also be held.

Dogs and cats that are waiting to be adopted will also be featured at the event.
