Joseph “Bro. Joe” Judson Perkins

Joseph “Bro. Joe” Judson Perkins, age 71 of Verbena, passed away Sunday, Feb. 26 at his home.

He was born on March 11, 1945 in Centreville, son of the late Judson Dunaway Perkins and the late Thelma Willis Perkins.

He was a pastor.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Reynolds Perkins of Verbena; children, Julia “Julee” Rae Perkins of Acwoth, Georgia, Jeffrey “Jeff” Judson Perkins of Verbena, and Jessica Renee’ (Scotty) Patterson of Thorsby; grandchildren, Breckon Nicole (Ryan) Bondell of Acworth, Georgia, Rhiannon “Annie Mae” Celine (Calab) Mims of Clanton, and Draven Scott Patterson of Thorsby; great-grandson, Collin Douglas Bondell of Acworth, Georgia; siblings, Roy Frank (Joyce) Perkins of Bishopville, South Carolina, Thelma “Pat” Patrica (Nick) Nicholson of Lawley, Peggy Lou (Bruce) Reynolds of Centreville, and Barbara Sue (Donnie) Dial of Demopolis.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Judson Dunaway Perkins and Thelma Willis Perkins; and sisters, Juanita Payne and Mary Ann Smith.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. from the West End Baptist Church in Clanton with the Rev. Daniel Wilson, Rev. Eddie Lightsey, and Rev. James Watkins officiating. Burial followed in the Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Bibb County. The family received friends one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the church.
