Community news is about telling local stories. Sharing the triumphs of high school athletes and top spellers. Highlighting the financial challenges of governments and school systems.

As a journalist, I tell stories through words and pictures, striving to tell them in a way that is easy to understand. I look for stories that will inform and interest readers. Yet, there are still stories in each of the communities and neighborhoods of Chilton County that remain untold. Perhaps these stories are better told in a more personal way from local residents.

For these such stories, The Clanton Advertiser is looking to you, the members of the community, to tell those stories. We are looking to start running community columns written by talented, dedicated people from each community. Each column would focus the positive things happening in the community. It could be about community churches, unique activities, schools and people. Someone could give a fresh perspective on something that happened recently, or highlight something that makes their community special.  We are hoping to find someone in Clanton, Maplesville, Isabella, Verbena, Thorsby and Jemison who will submit content. How often you write can be a little flexible, but we need consistency and dependability. If you like to write and have the time to commit to such a venture, please email me at joyanna.love@clantonadvertiser.com for more information.

In addition to local columns, The Clanton Advertiser also welcomes community photos.  From weather impact to unique produce, community submitted photos can chronicle the everyday things that make Chilton County a good place to grow. So, have a photo from last night’s storm? Or a favorite photo of a recent day on Lake Mitchell? We would love to share them with the county. Email your photo submissions to news@clantonadvertiser.com for consideration of inclusion in an upcoming edition. Photos need to be a high quality and resolution in order to look good when printed.

The stories of Chilton County can be told in a variety of ways. The Clanton Advertiser tells the stories of Chilton County in newsprint, magazine and online making sure the information is accessible to as many community members as possible.
