Tigers sweep rival to end regular season

The Chilton County Tigers brought an end to the 2016-2017 basketball regular season on Thursday night with a sweep of the Jemison Panthers, as the Lady Tigers won 42-34 and the varsity boys won 61-42.

A slow two minutes to start the game finally saw the first points of the game come on a pair of baskets from Jasmine Martin.
Maria Flores answered with a basket for the Panthers but a three from Shalisa White made the Tigers lead five.

A 3-pointer from Sommer Richardson, and a two from Cassani Steele ended the first
period with the Tigers leading 10-4.
A three midway through the second period from Martin extended the Chilton County lead to nine, and back-to-back baskets from Adi Argent saw the Tiger lead grow to 13.

A Kiara Steele basket ended the Chilton County run, but did little to cut into a
21-9 Tigers halftime lead.
The Panthers built a comeback to start the third period, as a basket from Kiara Steele and Erristen Evans cut the Chilton County lead to seven.

Another basket from Steele made the lead five and a basket from Flores made it a three-point game. Baskets from White and another from Argent sent the game to the fourth quarter with the Tigers leading 29-22.
Lexis Blackman extended the Tiger lead to 11 midway through the final period, but it was answered by a 3-pointer from Karmen Mims.

Flores cut the lead to six, but baskets from White and Argent pushed the Chilton County lead back to 10.

The Panthers managed to cut the Tiger lead to eight in the closing minutes, but were unable to make any more ground as Chilton County held on for the win.
Martin led the Tigers with 15 points, eight rebounds and two steals.
Kiara Steele led the Panthers with 15 points 10 rebounds and two steals.
The Varsity Boys game began with a flurry, as both teams came out shooting lights out from the field.

With an early 4-2 lead, a three from Donte Davis along with a basket from Joey Cleckler extended the Tiger lead to seven, but a basket from Ryan Thompson and a three from Will Johns made it a two-point game.

Mondez Jones padded the Tiger lead by two with Joshua White stepping up to make the Chilton County lead five.

A free throw from Patrick Rogers made it a 21-13 game at the end of the first quarter.
The Chilton County defense caused the Panthers fits in the second period, as Jemison came away with a goose egg on the scoreboard at the end of the eight-minute period.

Meanwhile, a 13-0 run sent the Tigers to the half with a 32-13 lead.
The Panther dry spell finally came to an end early into the third period on a basket from Thompson.

Davis answered with a basket for the Tigers and a three from Tyler Williams extended the Chilton County lead to 19.

Wes McGehee answered with a pair of threes for the Panthers, to cut the Tiger lead to 13 and with a basket by Damian Wilson, the Tigers took a 14-point lead to the final period of play.
Three straight baskets from Jones extended the Tiger lead to 16 and was made 18 by another Jones basket.

A basket from Davis made the Chilton County lead 20, but a late basket
from Ty Leachman and a free throw from Williams brought the game to
its final.
Davis led the Tigers with 16 points, six rebounds and two steals, while McGehee led the Panthers with 16 points and four steals.
