Mabel S. Cummings, 87, of Thorsby died Sunday, Jan. 22 at St. Vincent’s Chilton.

She was born on Sunday, Aug. 25, 1929 in Perry County, daughter of the late James Smith and the late Rosie Terry Smith.

She was a laborer.

Surviving are her sons, Wayne Cummings (Linda) of Thorsby and Larry Cummings (Frankie) of Thorsby; daughter, Tammy Gilliland (Toby) of Columbus, Georgia; sister, Mrs. Nell Cummings of Thorsby; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Judson Cummings; daughter, Connie Cummings Cleckler; and son, Ronnie Lee Cummings.

Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24 at Martin Funeral Home.

Services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. at Mulberry Baptist Church with Rev. David Bishop and Rev. Andy Mims officiating. Interment will follow in Mulberry Baptist Cemetery, Maplesville.
