Jessie Proof “J.P.” Waldrop

Jessie Proof “J.P.” Waldrop, 87, of Jemison died Saturday, Jan. 7 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster.

He was born on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 1929 in Bibb County, son of the late Proof Justice Waldrop and the late Jessie Gibson Waldrop.

He was an auto body mechanic.

Surviving are his wife, Annie Waldrop of Jemison; son, Michael Waldrop (Donna) of Randolph; daughter, Sandra Bearden (Marty) of Randolph; granddaughters, Gretchen Smitherman (David), Charlotte Mizell (Ryan), and Jayme Brown (Jimmy); six great-grandchildren; and sister, Catherine Cates.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jennifer Waldrop; sister, Mella Mae Brown; and brother, Lee Lewis Waldrop.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10 at Union Springs Baptist Church.

Services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. at Union Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Johnson and Rev. Evie Megginson officiating. Interment will follow in Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Randolph.
