MAPLESVILLE — Rain last weekend put a damper on plans for the annual Christmas parade, so the event has been rescheduled for this Saturday at 5 p.m.

Participants will begin arriving at 3 p.m. in preparation for the float contest, which will be judged at 3:45 p.m.

First place will receive $100. Second place will receive $75, and third place will receive $50.

The parade will begin at Maplesville High School and proceed to the Alabama Department of Transportation office on State Route 22. The parade will then head back to the school.

Christine Epperson, coordinator of the event, said her favorite part of the parade each year is “seeing the little kids, the excitement in their eyes.”

The parade has been an annual event for the town for years.
