The Chilton Christian Academy Patriots (2-6) lost to the Brooklane Baptist Academy Eagles with a final score of 76-46 at a home game on Nov. 29.

The Patriots made 20 of 63 shots as a team, and went six for 10 on free throws. Missed scoring opportunities combined with the consistent rebound recovery and quick passes of Brookwood to block the path to victory for CCA.

The Eagles pulled off to an early lead, ending the first quarter at 15-8. The point gap grew to 13 by the end of the half, with the Patriots trailing 33-20.

Chilton Christian did not show signs of quitting in the second half. They hung in the game and put up 26 points, including a 3-point shot from Bradley Smith and another from Liam Higgins.

Although the Patriots suffered a 30-point loss, the team played their game all the way through. Every player saw time on the court, and Higgins had a standout night with 19 points.

The CCA girls’ basketball team played previous to the boys’ game. The girls also lost to Brooklane, with a final score of 39-29.

Jenna Lyon was the leading scorer for the night, racking up eight points. Shayla Hamilton had six and Kim Hagler scored five.

The CCA Patriots boys and girls will have another chance against Brooklane on Dec. 9 at 4 p.m. in Hueytown.
