MAPLESVILLE — It’s not too late to be a part of this year’s Maplesville Christmas Parade.

Float applications will be accepted until Dec. 2 for the Dec. 3 event.

Christine Epperson, assistant chief for the Emergency Medical Service and coordinator for the event, said applications can be picked up at the Maplesville Town Hall or by contacting Epperson at 334-259-4188. Registration is free of charge.

The parade will begin at Maplesville High School and proceed to the Alabama Department of Transportation office on State Route 22. The parade will then head back to the school. Floats will begin arriving at the school at 3 p.m.

Participants will need to have their float ready by 3:45 p.m. for the pre-parade float contest. The contest will be judged by an impartial panel. Judges will select a first, second and third place winner. Prizes of $100 for first, $75 for second and $50 for third will be given. Epperson said participation is open to everyone.

The parade will officially start at 5 p.m.

Epperson said her favorite part of the parade each year is “seeing the little kids, the excitement in their eyes.”
