Jimmy Wayne Gilmore, age 80 of Gardendale, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Chilton County on July 31, 1936, the son of the late Graham and Pearlie Gilmore.

He graduated from Jemison High School in the class of 1954. Jimmy was a construction superintendent for many years. He loved horses, working on the farm, and Chilton County.

He is survived by his wife, Blenda Gilmore; son, Joel (Sherry) Gilmore; son, Kenneth Gilmore; step-son, Bryan Spruill; grandchildren, Morgan, Jamie, and Jason Gilmore; great granddaughter, Brooklyn Gilmore; brothers, Billy and David Gilmore; and sisters, Margaret Wyatt, Judy Houston, and Donna Sharp.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Graham and Pearlie Gilmore; daughter, Cynthia Diane Gilmore; brothers, Carl and Danny Gilmore; and sister, Doris Bice.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home located at 1709 Lay Dam Road in Clanton. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. with Brad Lytle officiating. Burial will follow in the Rocky Mt. Community Cemetery in Jemison.
