Chilton County High School teachers and students agree: homecoming is a week of unity and spirited competition.

This teamwork can be seen in the hallway decorations at Chilton County High School. These decorations are a long-standing tradition at CCHS, and one that highlights the talents of the artists and creative thinkers in each grade level.

“Because we do not have art classes here, you get to see that they can have talents that we didn’t know about,” said Amy Easterling, a teacher and homecoming assistant at CCHS.

Easterling said she sees many students who do not have class together bonding over the decorations.

“Our favorite part would probably be just getting to see the kids work on everything, and how excited they are,” said Kelli Inman, a teacher and homecoming assistant at CCHS. “They all come together to work.”

Inman said the students are more involved this year than usual. She said they have dressed up more and seem very excited about each day.

The seniors are experiencing their last homecoming at CCHS. One student was working at the seniors’ float site on Tuesday in the early afternoon, and echoed the idea that homecoming unites students.

“I like that it brings all the seniors together,” said Anna Calhoun. “I think because it’s the last one, everybody wants to come and help and be involved. It just makes us closer. We’re trying to enjoy every last bit of it.”

Easterling and Inman advised the seniors to take in these special memories as they enjoy the rest of homecoming week.

Chilton County High School’s homecoming parade begins Thursday at 5 p.m. out of the Fred’s parking lot. It will go down 4th Avenue North, turn in front of First Baptist Church, then turn down 2nd Avenue South and complete the loop.

The homecoming game is Friday at 7 p.m. in Tigers Stadium. The homecoming candidates will be presented before the game at 6:30 p.m.
