The Merchants Foodservice distribution center in Clanton received a “superior” distinction following an excellent score on its annual inspection for the second consecutive year.
“It is something that our associates take pride in,” said Woody Cheatham, Division President for Merchants Foodservice in Clanton. “It says a lot about the quality of our workforce.”
The inspection was performed Aug. 23 by ASI Food Safety, which provides the center with a required audit that takes place annually.
The Clanton distribution center earned a score of 97.76 out of 100, which factored in the entire operation from food safety to facility maitenence.
“Our customers expect quality, and we strive to meet those expectations,” Cheatham said.
According to Cheatham, this year’s score is about the highest you can get, and the Clanton center has approached an excellent grade about every year since it opened in 1999.
The Clanton facility has been open 17 years and over that time has brought business and created job in Clanton and Chilton County. It currently has 240 employees on staff.
“I’m proud of the entire Merchant’s team for their continued performance,” Cheatham said. “It is a reflection of their dedication.”
