JEMISON – It’s homecoming week at Jemison High School, which means school spirit is flowing all over town as the school prepares to crown its homecoming court this Friday night, and the football team prepares to host the Marbury Bulldogs.

Each day this weeks students are dressing up in different outfits to show their school pride.

  • Monday was ‘Merica Monday with students donning their most patriotic outfits.
  • Tuesday was Toddlers and Tiaras day where students dressed up as toddlers or pageant queens.
  • Wednesday was Winnin’ Wednesday with students wearing their favorite team’s jersey or sports themed outfit.
  • Thursday will be Tie Dyed Thursday, which will cause for a lot of bright tie-dyed and neon shirts.
  • Friday will be Fired up Friday in which students will wear their respective class t-shirts to get “Fired up” for Friday night.

There were also STEP groups for each grade level 8-12, who decided on a homecoming theme for their class. This theme will be used on door decorations, the class homecoming t-shirts and for the class float in the homecoming parade.

Speaking of the parade, on Thursday night the school will host its annual homecoming parade through the streets of Jemison.

The parade will start around 5:30 p.m. with the Future Farmers of America hosting a cookout just prior at 5 p.m.

Once the parade concludes there will be a community pep rally held inside the stadium for students, players, parents and fans to attend in preparation for Friday night’s homecoming festivities.

The homecoming court will be announced Friday night at 6:30 just prior to kickoff of their homecoming matchup with the Bulldogs.

As far as the football game goes, the Panthers couldn’t have picked a better matchup. They will be taking on a Marbury team that is 1-4 overall and 0-2 in Region 3 play.

This should equal out to a fairly easy game for the 3-2 (2-0) Panthers and create a fantastic homecoming atmosphere.
