Co-Missioned Ministries is joining with Clanton Church of God to host a clothing drive on Saturday, Sept. 24 at Advance Auto Parts from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The clothing ministry is a home-based, non-profit operation in Verbena, Alabama, collecting unwanted clothes and distributing them around the county.

“We don’t discriminate based on income or anything else. We want people to take what they need,” said Monica Price, who operates the ministry along with her husband, Justin.

Price said Clanton Church of God had contacted them about joining their fall festival on Oct. 8 and giving away clothes there. The timing was perfect, according to Price, because the ministry had already planned to collect more clothes due to a need for children’s and men’s clothing.

“Kids clothes are the first to go,” said Price. She said their collection is mostly women’s apparel at the moment, so donations for men and children would be most welcome.

The ministry’s biggest need right now is storage, according to Price. They are accepting materials to help construct a storage building on-site at their home.

“Our vision is that eventually God will provide a way to take [clothes] into apartment complexes and neighborhoods to reach people who can’t get out of the house,” said Price. She hopes to one day have a truck that operates as a mobile closet.

Co-Missioned Ministries will be under a pink tent at Advance Auto Parts on Saturday collecting the clothing. Volunteers from Clanton Church of God were also invited to help, according to Price.

The 205 Computer Guy will be giving away a free computer repair to a donor on Saturday. Anyone who donates clothing may enter to win.
