Jemison 41, Central Tuscaloosa 27

Jemison defeated Central High School at Tuscaloosa with a final score of 41-27. The Panthers are 3-2 overall and undefeated in region games. Next week they will face off against Marbury High School at home.

Maplesville 63, Ellwood Christian 0

Maplesville won on the road against Ellwood Christian with a final score of 56-0. It did not take long for the Red Devils to light up the scoreboard and opened up a 56-0 halftime lead. With the win, Maplesville improves to 3-0 overall and in region play.

Billingsley 40, Francis Marion 16

The Bears picked up an important region on the road against Francis Marion and bounced back nicely after a tough loss to Keith.

R.C. Hatch 34, Thorsby 14

The Thorsby Rebels went down to the R.C. Hatch Bobcats on Friday night by a score of 34-14.

This is a tough loss for the Rebels to handle as it brings their overall record to 1-4 and their area record to 1-2, which puts them behind the eight ball when it comes to making a run at the playoffs.

The consensus coming into the year was that this was the year Thorsby would make history and make it past the second round of the playoffs. If that is still the goal, they may have to win out in order to make it a reality.

They still have area games against Aliceville, Billingsley and Keith. At the moment, only one of those teams has a winning record and that is Aliceville, who Thorsby plays on Oct. 7 after a bye week.

Next week on Friday, Sept. 23, the Rebels host the Central Coosa Cougars in an out of area game. The Cougars are currently sitting at 1-2 before the completion of their game against Beulah, so it is a winnable game for the Rebels to bounce back and get some confidence heading into the bye.
