JEMISON – Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church (CSHC) in Jemison will be hosting Feastmeeting 2016, in which the church offers its typical church service, followed by a big meal for everyone in attendance.

CSHC has 18 locations spread throughout the southeastern United States and offers this feastmeeting every year on Labor Day weekend so people don’t feel like their holiday weekend is too rushed.

“We preach, pray and sing,” said minister at CSHC Don Robuck. “It’s just a way to give testimony to people that want to actually study the Bible and learn more. We simply read the Bible so people can understand what is really being said.”

The original CSHC started around 1892 with Methodist members, which makes the church around 124 years old, and the Jemison location specifically started in 1952.

“We like to think of this as a revival weekend,” Robuck said. “It’s a good chance to get back in touch with God and share the word of the Bible.”

The 73-year-old also said these feastmeetings have been going on since before he was born.

Services will take place this weekend with two scheduled for Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., and one scheduled for Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Robuck said after each service people in attendance will be treated to all kinds of delicious American cuisine.

“The goal is to hear the word of God,” he said. “We just want people to have a better understanding of the Bible so they will go home and read it because a lot of people don’t do that, but they should at least give it a chance.”

Robuck said people will even come from out of state to join in on the festivities, which is a real treat for him.

“It will be an open forum,” he said. “I’m not sure who is going to be preaching at this point because it’s spontaneous and anybody is welcome to discuss and talk about what they want to.”

Robuck said God can teach people the right thing to do, but you have to be willing to listen and follow his plans. “It’s all in the Bible and available to anybody every year, there’s a reason it’s the most popular book sold around the world.”

Everyone is invited and welcome to attend the services as well as the meal that will take place after. If you would like more information on the church or the event you can visit facebook.com/events/116031865505893/ or cshc-jemison.org/.
