Maplesville Volleyball will open the season against Keith High School at home on Thursday, Aug. 25 at 5p.m.
The team this year has six seniors and a total of ten girls. The group made it to regionals last year, according to Coach Kerri Payne, who believes they can do it again.
The team started preparation for this game on July 28. The upcoming season holds 12 games against the likes of Isabella, Autaugaville and Ellwood.
“They’ve practiced really hard,” said Payne. “They say they’re going [to regionals] again.”
Payne said she expects the girls will put in an especially strong effort against Autaugaville and Isabella.
The team faces Keith in a non-conference match for their first game. Maplesville defeated Keith in their last matchup during October of 2015, and they hope to repeat the victory this year.
“We’re excited about starting Thursday,” said Payne. “It’s a good group of girls.”
The season opener is Thursday, Aug. 25 at Maplesville High School. The game starts at 5p.m. and tickets are expected to cost $4.
