J.O. Crumpton, Sr.

J.O. Crumpton, Sr., age 77 of Thorsby, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17 at his residence.

He was born in Chilton County on July 26, 1939 to the late Olen Crumpton and the late Maggie Taylor Crumpton.

He was a brick mason.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary Crumpton Bravo of Jemison; brother, Marvin Crumpton of Thorsby; grandchildren, Zach, Jonah, Josh, Jonathon, Hunter, Eren Crumpton, and Houston Mata; six great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Laura Crumpton.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Olen and Maggie Crumpton; sons, David and James Crumpton, Jr.; lifelong companion, Mary Smith; brothers, Leo and Felton Crumpton; and a sister, Martha Gentry.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 20 at 1 p.m. from the Mars Hill Baptist Church in Jemison with the Rev. Donald Bice officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church.
