The Chilton County High School Alumni Band will perform with the CCHS band during the Oct. 7 home game. Students and alumni will march side by side during the halftime show and fill the field with Chilton County pride.

The Alumni Band has averaged between 80 and 100 members, according to Julie Harrison, art teacher at Clanton Elementary and class of 1997 alumna. This year she will lead the band as they join the students in playing a themed halftime show.

The “Home of the Brave” halftime show will feature patriotic songs such as  “Main Street America” and crowd favorites like “Eye of the Tiger” and “Hoorah.”

Harrison looks forward to a big night and hopes to see a great number of alumni participate.

“It is great to mix current band and auxiliary members with alumni. Such a strong, vibrant sound is made and the visual … is powerful,” said Harrison.

The Alumni Band plans to honor Jim Swindle, former CCHS Band Director, for his many years of hard work and dedication to the program. According to Harrison, they will also honor other directors and alumni if possible as they celebrate the 100th year of CCHS.

For those interested in performing, sheet music will be available for pickup Aug. 22 in the CCHS office. Preregistration of $25 is required by Sept. 12 in order to ensure a t-shirt, dinner in the hospitality tent and a DVD of the performance.
