Audrey Gothard Hardy Cox

Audrey Gothard Hardy Cox, 88, of Clanton died Saturday, Aug. 13 at her residence.

She was born on Saturday, Jan. 28, 1928 in Chilton County, daughter of the late John Thomas Gothard and the late Jewell Lee Martin Gothard.

She was a schoolteacher.

Surviving are her husband, J. Raymond Cox of Clanton; daughter, Janice Isley of Clanton; brothers, James C. Gothard of Lavonia, Ga., and Donald W. Gothard of Columbiana; sister, Betty Dunham of Millbrook; step-daughter, Donna Sherry Cox of Clanton, and Christy Glenn of Clanton; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, three step-grandchildren, and one step-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, H. Ford Hardy; daughter, Myra Ann Nelson; and daughter, Brenda Moore.

Friends were received from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 14 at Martin Funeral Home. Services were held Monday, Aug. 15 at 2 p.m. at Martin Chapel with Rev. Matt DeBord and Rev. Rick Marshall officiating. Interment followed in Martin Memorial Cemetery, Clanton. Martin Funeral Home directed.
