The Chilton Auburn club will host its annual kickoff party Aug. 18 at First United Methodist Church. The event is free and any Auburn fan is invited.

According to event organizer Amber Darnell, the kickoff will be a time for Auburn fans to mingle, watch highlights from the previous year and get updates about the club and its events.

The club is not just for alumni of the university. According to Darnell, Auburn fans of all kinds may join the club, which is responsible for recognizing multiple scholarship recipients in Chilton County schools each year and honoring former Auburn football players with its Unsung Hero Award.

“It’s a very casual … tailgating type event,” said Darnell. The club will provide chicken fingers, barbecue pork and drinks. The public is encouraged to bring their favorite tailgate food to share.

Associate AD for Football Operations Jeremy Roberts will speak at the event and share information about the football team’s plans this year.

The Auburn Club expects a total of between 150 and 200 fans, club members and University staff at the event.

Darnell encouraged any Auburn fans in the county to come and enjoy a meal and conversation with other fans and members of Auburn clubs in nearby communities.

“I love Auburn football, period,” said Darnell. “I look forward to a winning season; I’m gonna be positive about it.”
