Nancy Lee Sanders

Nancy Lee Sanders, age 80, of Clanton, passed away Saturday, Aug. 6 at home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Mississippi on May 7, 1936, the daughter of the late Ervin Stringer and the late Naomi Lightsey Stringer.

She was a mental health counselor.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Benny) Gibson of Clanton; son, Billy (Diane) Sanders of Huntsville; grandchildren, Cindy Gibson Brown, Clint (Rose) Gibson, Chris (Sheryl) Gibson, Chad (Leslie Miller) Gibson, April (Robert Compton) Sanders, and Nancy Sanders; brother, Darrell Stringer of Laurel, Miss.; and a sister, Evelyn Stringer Stevens of Laurel, Miss.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Naomi Stringer and a sister, Elaine Stringer Brown.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 11 a.m. from the Clanton First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rob West officiating. Burial will follow in the Chilton Memorial Gardens in Clanton. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Nancy’s memory to the United Methodist Children’s Home, 500 S. Columbia Drive, Decatur, GA 30030
