The Chilton County United Way will hold the 2017 campaign kick-off luncheon on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016. The public is invited to attend at the Alabama Power Conference Center (2030 7th Street South) in Clanton to show support for the campaign.
Twenty agencies in Chilton County will benefit from the United Way’s 2017 campaign. Among them are the American Red Cross, Chilton-Shelby Mental Health, Habitat for Humanity and Toys for Kids.
The kick-off marks the start of a five month fund-raising effort. Through the rest of the calendar year, the United Way will visit companies and give presentations in which it explains the organization’s mission and gives individuals an opportunity to contribute.
The slogan for the campaign this year is “Making a Difference Together.”
“The reason we tell people they should give is that they are helping right here, in the community,” said Christy Hood. “Alone they may not feel like they’re making much of a difference, but it all adds up.”
The Chilton County United Way is proud to operate on only 25 percent of its collected funds. Seventy-five percent of each dollar raised goes to support the twenty agencies.
Employees of companies visited by United Way can make contributions through payroll deductions. These can be as large or small as they would like, and the campaign encourages everyone to give what they can so that they all can make a difference together. Individuals are also encouraged to contribute outside of work.
Those interested in contributing may contact the Chilton County United Way at 755-5875. Checks may be mailed to P.O. Box 1174 Clanton, AL, 35046. All contributions are tax deductible.
