Sara Berneice Smith, 89, of Lawley died Wednesday, July 27 at her residence.

She was born on Monday, March 28, 1927 in Lawley, Daughter of the late Denson Sewell and the late Annie McGee Sewell.

She was a Homemaker.

Surviving are her Husband of 73 years, Hudson Smith of Lawley; daughters, Martha June (Fred) May of Maplesville, and Annie Ruth (Carl) Smith of Prattville; grandchildren, Arnold (Cathy) Andrews, Bryan Andrews, Tim (Sandra) Andrews, Kathy (Chris) Cook, Mark (Shannon) Smith, and Greg May; great-grandchildren, Ivey Andrews, Bryce Andrews, Shae (Colby) Morrison, Carleigh Andrews, Casey Cook, Caleb Cook, and Asher Smith; great-great-grandchild, Seth Morrison; sister, Barbara Hicks of Lawley; brother-in-law, Curtis (Margie) Smith; sister-in-law, Barbara Smith; and a host of nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Denson & Annie Sewell; brothers, Irby and C.R. Sewell; and son, Rolland “Bubba” Smith.

Friends were received from 10-11 a.m., Saturday, July 30 at Pleasant Grove #2 Church. Services were held Saturday, July 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist #2 Church with Rev. Robert Gibson officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Hill Baptist Cemetery, Lawley.
