Thomas R. Day

Thomas R. Day, 83, passed away July 3, 2016 surrounded by his loving family after suffering a period with Alzheimer’s disease. After earning his C.P.A. degree, Tommy worked for several big 8 accounting firms in Birmingham, Alabama. In 1966, he and his family moved to Clanton, Alabama where he began a very successful accounting firm. Over the next 22 years, he represented many clients and received the respect of many friends.

In 1988, he retired and moved with his wife, Betty, to St. George Island, Florida where he enjoyed fishing and traveling around the United States with his wife. Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Betty, his sister Inez Smith, brother Wesley Day, children Randy (Lera) Day and Cathy Hodo and four grandchildren. Per his wishes following a celebration of life at the Plantation Clubhouse, his ashes will be spread in an outgoing tide from Sike’s Cut on St. George Island, Florida.
