187 pounds of pot seized, arrest made

Cooperation among several police agencies kept 187 pounds of marijuana off the streets of Chilton County.

A drug bust June 26 resulted in the seizure of the marijuana, the arrest of Chilton County resident Kowosky Christian and three other arrests in Greene County, according to a press release from the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office.

The street value of the marijuana would be about $375,000.

Officers with the Jemison Police Department and the 17th Circuit Drug Task Force conducted a traffic stop in Greene County June 26 on a vehicle that was traveling to a Chilton County business with 187 pounds of marijuana.

Agents involved made a “controlled delivery” to the business, leading to Christian’s arrest.

Christian has been charged with trafficking marijuana and was placed in Chilton County Jail on a $15,000 bond.

The three other suspects were charged in Greene County by agents with the 17th Circuit Drug Task Force.

“Our agency works hard to take these drugs off our streets and appreciates the cooperation from the 17th Circuit Drug Task Force in furthering our goals in fighting drugs,” Chilton County Sheriff John Shearon said and also thanked Greene County Sheriff Joe Benison and Jemison Police Chief Shane Fulmer. “With all the departments working together, we kept that 187 pounds of marijuana from hitting the streets of Chilton County.”
