Dorothy Rose Driver Davis, age 89, of Clanton, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., at West End Baptist Church in Clanton with Martin Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at Chestnut Creek Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Joseph Davis, her daughter Marilyn Thomas and her husband Dr. Charles Thomas of Auburn, her son Jerry Allen Davis of Chelsea, her grandchildren Eleanor Thomas and her husband Andreas Hadji, Mary Thomas, Allen Davis and his wife Dr. Margaret Adjent, great grandchildren Greta Davis and Ford Davis, her sisters Frances Robinson, Linda Lockhart and Tina Wyatt in addition to many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Driver and Lillie Grant Driver, sisters Esther Bryant and Edith Davis, brother Gerald Driver, and daughter-in-law Sharon Dinning Davis.

Dorothy was born Oct. 25, 1926, in the Verbena community. She was a homemaker and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was devoted to her church, having served as a nursery worker, choir member, Beginners Sunday School teacher and after retiring to Clanton with her husband, faithful member of the Andrew Sunday School Class at West End Baptist Church.

The family greatly appreciates the kind and loving hearts and hands of those who cared for her in her last months: Jackie White, Alicia Swindle, Bertha Manasa, Nicole Caver, and the nurses of Southern Care Hospice.
