Marion Bank and Trust in Maplesville is officially a full service bank following a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday.

Marion Bank and Trust has spent the past year serving the Maplesville community, but has added checking and deposit accounts to its arsenal of customer services.

“I am excited about what’s going on in Chilton County,” Marion Bank and Trust President and CEO Conrad Taylor said. “We feel like there’s a necessary place for a community bank.”

The key word is “community,” as Taylor and the rest of the staff at Marion Bank and Trust takes pride in building and maintaining those community relationships.

“We’re not a large bank, so we feel like we understand the needs of a community such as Maplesville,” Taylor said.

Maplesville joins Marion and Selma with branches of Marion Bank and Trust.

The goal in each scenario is to return that personal relationship with the residents of the towns that they are affiliated with, Taylor said.

“This is going to be a community bank, and we desperately needed this,” Maplesville Mayor W.C. Hayes Jr. said. “This will be like a hometown bank.”

According to Marion Bank and Trust vice president Brad Jackson, the plan since arriving in Maplesville was to establish a presence and eventually transition from a loan production office to a full service bank.

Some of the services offered will include consumer deposits, business accounts, mortgage lending, commercial business and consumer loans.

“Anything that you would traditionally have will be offered here,” Jackson said.

Jackson is a local product that grew up in Chilton County, graduated from Jemison High School in 1995 and currently lives in Thorsby.

Marion has already begun looking toward the future in Chilton County with plans to add a branch in Jemison that will be hopefully be functional by January 2017.

The Maplesville branch is located at 890 on Highway 22, and is open on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and are expected to be opened on Saturdays now that they are full service bank.
