A man changing a tire on Interstate 65 was struck by a vehicle and killed early Saturday morning.

Douglas Leo Cootes, 62, of Wetumpka was pronounced dead on the scene, according to a release from Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Cootes was changing a tire at 4:20 a.m. Saturday near the 214 mile marker, about two miles north of Clanton, when he was struck by a 2014 Dodge Charger.

The driver of the Charger was injured and transported to a local hospital, according to the release.

No further information was available.

Alabama State Troopers are investigating the incident.
