It is never too early to begin finding out information about possible career paths and for setting life goals.
Jemison Elementary School hosted Career Day on Tuesday and offered its students an up-close and personal look at various jobs.
An array of careers were on display, such as the Jemison Police Department, National Guard, Alabama State Troopers, Central Alabama Electric Cooperative and Chilton County Sheriff’s Department.
A common question asked to professionals throughout the day was about the daily requirements of the specific job and some of the fun things that they get to do on a daily basis.
There were plenty of interactive methods to let the kids’ imagination run wild.
The Alabama Forestry Commission brought a bulldozer, CAEC displayed a bucket truck and the Alabama State Troopers brought a boat used on marine patrol.
“You’re going to get one’s attention,” said Patrick Cook, with the Alabama Forestry Commission. “It can be quite a fun job.”
“Kids have a lot more imagination than adults,” National Guard Sgt. First Class Trent Martin said.
“I liked all the vehicles that they brought with them,” Jemison fourth grader Coden Cummings said.
Cummings was one of a group of students selected as “principal of the day” in commemoration of Career Day.
“They are taking my job,” Jemison Elementary School principal Louise Pitts said. “That’s a good thing.”
