Mineral Springs Baptist Church staff and members are busy preparing for two upcoming events.

The church will host its fifth annual Men’s Day Steak Out on May 21 and the 14th annual Lay Lake Open bass tournament on May 28.

Beginning at noon on May 21, the community is invited to visit the church’s campus to view dozens of antique cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors.

This year’s Men’s Day Steak Out event bares a military theme, with active and retired service men and women being recognized throughout the day. Also, vintage military service vehicles and equipment will be on hand for viewing.

Free food throughout the day will be available, including hot dogs, soft drinks, pop corn and cotton candy.

The event will also feature two bounce houses for the kids in addition to other special features.

That evening, the church will serve, for $10 per person, a ribeye steak dinner beginning at 5 p.m.

There are currently tickets available for the event, but they are going fast.

Following dinner, at 6:30 p.m., active Air National Guard KC 135 tanker pilot Lacy Gunnoe will be on hand to share his journey as a Christian while serving as a war-time pilot in the U.S. armed forces.

The event will take place rain or shine.

For more information, check out the church’s Facebook page or website at www.msbcal.org.

The church is located at 8316 County Road 51, Clanton, AL 35046.

Jason Green is pastor. David Hopper and Ross Cline are event organizers.

The Lay Lake Open bass tournament will offer a first-place prize of $2,000.

The tournament annually pays out up to 10 places also.

Fishing from Bozo’s Fish Camp, the tournament is hosted once again by Mineral Springs Baptist Church and benefits student missions and ministry.

The tournament features free breakfast, lunch, drinks and snacks for those participating as well as dozens of door prizes for those fishing.

Pre-registration is underway, with a number of boats already with their position number for blast off that morning at safe daylight.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Boats are encouraged to put in at other ramps and marinas and make their way to Bozos. You may also launch from Bozos, but parking is limited.

There will be no launch fee for boats that day participating in the tournament. All boats participating in the tournament must be available that morning for a live-well inspection. There will be a live weigh-in beginning at 3 p.m.

The cost to participate is $100 per boat.

Included in the tournament will be a mixed couple winner, parent/child winner, a zero-weight drawing for $100 and a big-fish pot.

Also, tournament sponsorships remain available on a bronze, silver, gold and platinum level.

For more information or to pre-register, call the church office and leave a voice mail at (205) 646-3480 for Student Pastor T.J. Phelps regarding the tournament.
