Billy Royce Smith passed away Tuesday evening, May 3, 2016, suddenly and peacefully at his home in the Liberty Hill community outside of Clanton.

Billy was born Jan. 2, 1938, in Chilton County, son of the late Royce and Jewell Smith.

His wife, Molly, preceded him in death in 2003 after 46 years of marriage.

He worked for Alabama Power for 42 years, the vast majority of that in Clanton where he retired as lead lineman in 1998.

He is survived by a sister, Betty Littlejohn of Opelika; two sons, Greg and his wife Suzanne Smith of Powderly, Texas, David Smith of Isabella and Sherry Smith of Clanton; four grandchildren, Jared Smith of Powderly, Texas, Nathan Smith of Midland, Texas, Lauren Honey (Josh) of Pottsboro, Texas, and Nicole Sullivan (Michael) of Prattville.

Friends will be received from 1-2 p.m., Friday, May 6 at Liberty Hill Baptist Church.

Services will be held Friday, May 6 at 2 p.m. at Liberty Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Kent Dodson officiating.

Interment will follow in Liberty Hill Baptist Cemetery in Clanton.
