Central High School of Clay County is pleased to announce that Thomas Cagle has been accepted at Columbia University in the city of New York.
Cagle is the first student from Central High School who has applied and been accepted to an Ivy League School whose admission policies are much more stringent than other colleges and universities.
He is the only student from Alabama accepted through Columbia’s Early Decision Program. 1,710 students were admitted out of 30,000 applicants.
Cagle’s scholarship package includes full tuition, room and board, fees, and meal plan.
Cagle plans to major in neuroscience and behavior with a concentration in pharmacology, biochemical physics, and medical law.
His parents are Donnie Cagle and Angie Cagle; and his grandparents are Charles and Bobbie Cagle of Verbena.
