20-year-old killed in I-65 wreck north of Jemison
A single-vehicle wreck Saturday morning on Interstate 65 claimed the life of a 20-year-old Montevallo woman.
Lauren Elizabeth Shirah was killed when the 2006 Pontiac G6 in which she was a passenger left the roadway, struck a a ditch and overturned.
Shirah, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and later pronounced dead at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital.
The driver, Megan Hall, 20, of Montevallo, was transported to a local hospital with injuries.
The crash occurred on Interstate 65 at the 222 mile marker, 5 miles north of Jemison.
No additional information was available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
