The rain held off long enough for more than 50 children to win trophies at the Liberty Hill Baptist Church Sportsmen’s Spectacular on March 12.

More than 325 people attended the 10th annual Sportsmen’s Spectacular, which featured guest speaker and pastor at Shoal Creek Baptist Church, Shane Russell.

“This was truly a great event and was very well done,” Russell said. “It was fun for the whole family. I would definitely invite somebody to come.”

Russell brought two of his five children, Clayton and Cannon Russell, who both took home trophies from the Kid’s Zone.

In addition to outdoor games, guests were able to enjoy a wild game supper cooked by Chilton County locals in a room adorned with various mounted trophies taken by members of the community. Volunteers began working weeks in advance to build a hunting cabin-like stage, prepare their exotic game recipes and hang mounted game on the walls.

“The Sportsmen’s Spectacular is a fantastic event every year,” Liberty Hill member Josh Fincher said.. “It’s great for the community. I’m grateful to Liberty Hill for hosting it and glad to be able to help at the event.”

The grand prize winner this year was Cullen Adams, who won a gift card to Bass Pro Shop. More than 45 door prizes were distributed throughout the evening.

Liberty Hill pastor Kent Dodson thanked each person, business and organization that donated door prizes, provided food or volunteered their time.

The equipment for several Kid’s Zone activities was provided by Men’s Ministries of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, made possible by gifts from Alabama Baptists through the Cooperative Program.
