Maplesville shines bright at track and field meet

Three schools from the area competed in the Race to Fight Hunger track and field event that was hosted by Montgomery Academy on Saturday.
Maplesville, Billingsley and Chilton County High School each participated in multiple events at the competition.
Maplesville High School displayed plenty of future potential, as the Red Devils were a common sight among the contenders in several junior high competitions, including Janiya Moore winning the Girls 100 Meter Dash with a time of 13.19 seconds and the 200 Meter Dash with a final time of 27.70 seconds.
The competition was divided into categories with boys and girls representing junior high and the high school competition labeled as men’s and women’s.
Other results include:
•Janiya Moore finished fourth in Girls 400 Meters.
•Jamia Moore finished seventh in Girls 400 Meters, fifth in Girls 200 Meters and eighth in Girls 400 Meters.
•Sha’ Kea Mitchell finished 31st in Women’s 200 Meters and 28th in Women’s 400 Meters.
•Ryan Morrow finished third in Boys 100 Meter, sixth in 200 Boys Meters and 12th in Boys 400 Meters.
•Elijah Hatcher finished 16th in Boys 800.
•Harrison Smith finished 16th in Boys 1600.
•Terrance Dunlap finished eighth in Men’s 100 Meters, Seventh in Men’s 200 Meters and 10th in Men’s 400 Meters.
•Michael Harris finished 40th in 800 Meters.
•Mason Crocker finished 24th in Shot Put.
•Will Harrison finished 15th in Discus Throw.
•Maplesville finished seventh in Girls Team, 22nd in Men’s Team and 17th in Boys.
Billingsley High School
•Jamya Callens finished 23rd in Women’s 100 Meters and 27th in Women’s 200 Meters.
•MacKenzie Caver finished 34th in Women’s 200 Meters.
•Destinie Blackmon finished 28th in Women’s 800 Meters, 10th in Women’s 1600 Meters and 11th in 300 Meter Hurdles.
•Billingsley finished sixth in Women’s 4×100 Meter Relay.
Chilton County High School
•Finished eighth in Men’s 4×100 Relay, 14th in Women’s Team and 23rd in Men’s Team.
