Chilton County will join the ranks of “wet” counties after voters on Tuesday approved the sale of alcoholic beverages county-wide.

Voters in Tuesday’s Primary Election approved a referendum to allow the sale of alcohol by a margin of 4,491 (or 59.1 percent) to 3,114 (40.9 percent).

The Chilton County Commission has designated revenue from the sale of alcoholic beverages to the maintenance of roads and bridges in the county.

Alcohol sales were already allowed in municipalities Clanton, Jemison and Thorsby.
