Greg L. Varden, 65, of Thorsby, died Feb. 10 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center.

He was born on Sept. 28, 1950, in Chilton County, the son of the late James Isom Varden and the late Odell Robinson Varden Heflin.

Surviving are his brother, Johnny Varden (Penny) of Rockford; brother-in-law, Richard Minor of Clanton; sister-in-law, Joyce Varden of Foley; step-brother, James Heflin (Sherry), “Cooter” Heflin (Lisa); step-sister, Judy Wyatt (Eugene); nephews, Harold Minor (Michelle), Chris Minor (Ginger) and a host of nieces, nephews and other family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Odell R. Heflin; father, James Isom Varden; brother, Jimmy Dale Varden; sister, Debra Dean Minor and stepfather, Bobby Heflin.

Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 12 at Martin Funeral Home.

Services will be held Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. at Martin Chapel with Bro. Austin Ball officiating.

Interment will follow in Mt. Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
