Administrator Vickie Moseley said she hopes the day’s activities will become an annual event.

“We just wanted to do something special to honor those who have had breast cancer or who are undergoing treatments for it right now,” Moseley said. “We hope we can continue to do this each year.”

The facility was decorated in pink decor including poms poms that were donated by the dance team at Clanton Middle School and pink balloons, which were donated by Pinedale Gardens.

The Chosen Two performed a special singing for the residents beginning around 11 a.m.

“Today is a special day,” Moseley said. “The residents loved getting to dress up in pink.”

Moseley said the residents were encouraged to wear pink to show support for Lynn Cox, who recently shared her story at the Gardens about battling breast cancer.

Doris Berry, a resident at the Gardens, has also had breast cancer.

Residents were each given a pink balloon to release outside in front of the facility.

After the balloon release, a “pink” lunch was served including pink pizza, pink desserts, pink chips and salsa and pink popcorn.

The Gardens of Clanton is located at 850 Scott Drive in Clanton.
