Vanessa Dare Thigpen

Vanessa Dare Thigpen, 59, of Birmingham, passed away July 16.

She was born on Sept. 25, 1955 in Jefferson County, the daughter of the late Elliott VanNote Thigpen and the late Ruby Hayes Thigpen.

She was a retired guidance counselor with the Jefferson County Board of Education.

Surviving are her mother, Ruby H. Thigpen of Clanton; two brothers, James E. “Jet” Thigpen (Cindy) of Elberta; Jody Hayes Thigpen (Donna) of Pensacola, Fla.; three nephews, Van Thigpen, Scott and Stephen Stokes and nice, Elizabeth Thigpen.

She was preceded in death by her father, Elliott V. “Butch” Thigpen and her sister, Vicki M. Stokes.

Visitation will be at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on July 20 from 10 until 11 a.m. with Memorial Services following at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gerald Wayne Murphy officiating.

Family requests no flowers, but memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 210 Sixth St. N., Clanton, AL 35045.
