Crash on Highway 82 sends two to hospital

Two individuals were transported to UAB by emergency helicopters after a two-vehicle crash on Monday along U.S. Highway 82.

The wreck happened shortly after 2 p.m. at the 107.3 mile marker, according to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Trooper Reginal King.

Annie Armstrong, 74, from Northport, was driving a 2008 Lexus and was not injured during the crash, King said.

Gerald Ross, 51, of Tuscaloosa was driving a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee with passenger Annie Ross, 57, and both were transported to UAB by emergency helicopters with injuries.

King did not know the extent of the injuries or the condition of the individuals on Tuesday.

The wreck is still under investigation.
