Travis Lee Thomas, 24, of Jones, and Stevie Marie Belser, 25, of Clanton, were both arrested on possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamines), possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.

According to a press release from the Chilton County Sheriff’s Department, narcotics agents from the Narcotics Unit, assisted by Clanton Police Department, executed a drug search warrant at 2400 U.S. Highway 31 on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities found methamphetamine, packaging materials as well as glass pipes used for smoking methamphetamine, and a large amount of used hypodermic needles.

Shane Mayfield, assistant chief deputy with the Chilton County Sheriff’s Department, said informant information provided to authorities indicated there were drugs in the home.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected, the release said.

Currently, both Belser and Thomas remain in jail on bond.

Thomas was previously arrested in April for burglaries at Verbena Annex and Verbena High School.

Thomas allegedly broke into the two schools in April and took small amounts of cash.

Jones and Belser have preliminary hearings scheduled before Chilton County District Judge Rhonda J. Hardesty on July 7 at 9 a.m. at the Chilton County Courthouse.
