Kelsey’s Place, a non-profit organization in Clanton, will hold a golf fundraising event June 6 at the Montevallo Golf Club.

The golf tournament will be a two-person scramble, consisting of teams with two members each.

The proceeds of the tournament will help Kelsey’s Place purchase upgraded computer equipment, according to office manager Betty Tidwell.

Kelsey’s Place offers job readiness classes for adults in Chilton and nearby counties seeking employment.

Kelsey’s Place receives students through the Chilton County Department of Human Resources and Shelby County DHR, but they also welcome anyone seeking employment to stop by the office, located at 950 Lumac Road in Clanton, or call for an appointment.

“The tournament will help us make some necessary upgrades to the computer lab,” Tidwell said. “A lot of people who come in here looking for employment don’t have computers at home. Here, they can use them as long as they need to.”

Tidwell said they offer assistance in writing resumes, preparing for interviews or helping people find job openings.

“We search daily for new job openings,” Tidwell said. “We try to help people help themselves. That way, it helps the individual and the economy when they find a job.”

Tidwell said they have 16 teams already signed up for the golf tournament, and are expecting even more golfers to register the morning of the tournament.

Tee-off will begin at 8 a.m. and lunch will be provided by Ten Top BBQ, Domino’s Pizza, Jack’s, KFC and Captain D’s.

Drinks will also be provided by Fred Headley’s Standard Service Station.

To register, call Kelsey’s Place at (205) 755-7101 or the Montevallo Golf Club at (205) 665-8057.

Golfers may also register at the Montevallo Golf Club between 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Saturday before the tournament begins.
