The Jemison City Council unanimously voted on Monday to approve a liquor license for M.I.J. Petro Inc.
Jemison Police Chief Shane Fulmer told the council he had received all of the necessary paperwork required for a liquor license, but had not received the liquor liability insurance.
After the council held a public hearing for the approval of the liquor license, Councilman Rex Bittle made a motion for the council to approve the license for the business pending the presentation of the approved liquor liability insurance.
Fulmer told the council he did not anticipate having any issues acquiring the liability insurance.
The council also voted to pay all necessary bills and approved the minutes from the May 4 council meeting.
The council also met in an executive session toward the end of the meeting to discuss preliminary negotiations involving matters of trade or commerce.
Councilman Sam Reed presided over Monday’s meeting due to Jemison Mayor Eddie Reed’s absence.
